Alexandra Mackenzie is a Canadian multidisciplinary visual artist and musician residing in Montreal, Quebec. She studied classical and operatic voice from the age of seven to eighteen before her move to Toronto where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in printmaking from OCADU in 2011 while simultaneously playing in a handful of musical groups until forming her solo project the following year. Producing and performing music under the moniker Petra Glynt, Mackenzie composed the music for her first Canadian-Hollywood film Wander, directed by April Mullen and starring Aaron Eckhart, Tommy Lee Jones, Heather Graham, and Kathryn Winnick in 2019/2020. With two self-produced albums under her belt, she is currently composing her third-full length album. Always with a focus in drawing, Mackenzie's art practice seeks to illustrate the unfathomable beauty and magical processes of nature as a reminder of the regenerative and astoundingly resilient planet we inhabit albeit our human interferences as a reflection of our own abilities to heal and overcome. Her music seeks to amplify the same.
